The Millennium Fishery is approximately a 1/2 mile stretch of the River Avon just south of Downton.

This stretch of water was once known as the famous Bull Water, where the local Downton pub sold tickets and the legendary Gerry Swanton caught numerous 2lb roach.
There is now a ‘Roach Seat’ on the banks in memory to Gerry Swanton
In later years it was accessible to members of the barbel society members until a change of ownership where SDAC have been fortunate to acquire the fishing. There is a designated gated car park for our anglers.
Easy access to the river with no stiles or gates to climb.
From late June and throughout the summer there can be prolific rannunculus growth.
The Millennium Green is very popular with dog walkers and occasional bathers in the summer,  so an early start or short evening trips are best.

Come late autumn and into the winter months when the weed dies off makes trotting for chub an easier task.
Chub to in excess of 6lb are regularly caught along with barbel to double figures, pike to over 20lb, plus dace, roach, bream, perch, grayling and plenty of wild brown trout that can be a nuisance to the coarse angler but great sport in the spring for the game anglers.
Depths very from 3′ gravel runs to 9′ holes opposite the island.
