We are happy to announce that West Amesbury will reopen below Ham Hatches on Thursday 28th June 2018. The weed cut is complete and the water levels have dropped off the banks, it is still very muddy and a lot of the grass has died being under water for so long. The paths will be cut as soon as possible but it is a bit wild down there at the moment.
Please use the track down the true left bank from the hatches to get to the bottom of the wading above Allenby Bridge and walk around the bottom copse to access the Moor hatches wading. The path through the copse is very wet indeed. Avoid other muddy areas if you can.
The weed recovery this year has been remarkable, the best year for many and can probably be put down to the habitat works we have done and importantly improved seasonal flows. A visit to the wading above Sleeper Bridge is worthwhile to see the change.
Take care on the paths it is easy to lose a leg down the soft spots.
The club is keen to identify anyone perhaps newly retired who might like to assist with weed cuts in the future and perhaps with other habitat work, please make your selves known at the Cartshed.
